Summit Entertainment has hired Iron Man co-writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway to write a new feature film based on the 1986 cult classic fantasy movie Highlander, which starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown.  The original Highlander movie has spawned four sequels, three TV series, and an anime feature (see “Highlander Anime Movie Due in June”).

What Summit is planning is basically a remake (or “re-imagining”) of the original Highlander film (and concept) with the hope of jumpstarting a new franchise based on a fantasy property that already has worldwide recognition. While the mantra of the original film, which featured conflict across the centuries between the three "immortals," was "There can be only one," Summit Entertainment is clearly hoping that there is room for another version of this epic fantasy tale.
