Viz Media has announced that Portland Trail Blazer star-in-waiting Greg Oden will appear at San Diego Comic-Con to promote the launch of Takehiko Inoue’s Slam Dunk manga series.  The company will donate copies of Slam Dunk and other manga to Oden's charity, Oregon Mentors, which works to connect mentors with kids that need them. 

Oden, who dominated in college, missed his first year in the NBA because of knee surgery.  Barring injury he should establish himself as one of the best young “big men” in the game in coming seasons.  He will appear at the Viz Media booth on Sunday July 27th from noon to 1 pm in support of Slam Dunk, which is one of the most popular sports manga series ever published in Japan.

Viz Media is also planning to celebrate the launching of Slam Dunk with a visit from two of the Laker Girls, who will be at the Viz Media booth on Friday, July 25th from noon to 2 pm.
