Frazetta Comics’ Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer mini-series has been Image Comics’ top-selling book for 2008, and Frazetta Comics’ Jay Fotos has outlined the new publisher's plans for 2008 that include a second Death Dealer series (based on a new Frazetta Death Dealer painting), plus a two-issue science fiction series The Interlopers (written by Frank Frazetta, Jr.) and five one-shot comics based on individual Frazetta paintings.

On Frazetta Comics’ MySpace page Fotos comments on the one-shots: “They are fun and bring in other artists and writers to mix it up a bit.”  The five one-shots slated for 2009 include Combat, Moon Maid, Neanderthal, Freedom and Night Stalker, each of which has a different creative team.  Frank Frazetta’s Combat, which is being written by Joshua Ortega, demonstrates that Frazetta was more than just a fantasy artist and shows Frazetta’s Comics’ determination to illuminate other less well known corners of the Frazettaverse with comics based on his paintings with western, military, and science fiction themes.

Jay Fotos himself is writing Frank Frazetta’s Moon Maid one-shot comic with art provided by Tim Vigil.  Horror master Steve Niles is writing the horror-themed Frank Frazetta’s Night Stalker comic with art by Josh Medors, while Frank Frazetta’s Freedom is a western written by Mark Kidwell with John Cboins handling the art chores.  The final one-shot that Frazetta Comics has announced is Frank Frazetta’s Neanderthal, a high concept comic with no dialogue where the story is told by art alone.  Chris Ryall of IDW Publishing is writing Neanderthal while Zach Howard is providing the art.
