An announcement on the blog of New York Comic Con’s Lance Fensterman, the Reed Exhibitions VP in charge of the show, indicates that Summit Entertainment will hold the world premiere of footage from the upcoming Astro Boy CGI film produced by Imagi Entertainment at the NYCC.  The exclusive presentation will take place at the IGN Theater from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Sunday, February 8th.

 

The Astro Boy movie will debut on 3,000 screens in North America on October 23rd of 2009 (see “Astro Boy on 3000 Screens”).  IDW plans to publish two comic book mini-series tied to film and Jazwares is producing a line of Astro Boy toys (see “IDW Plans Two Astro Boy Series”).

 

Other Summit Entertainment projects that will be previewed at the NYCC include Knowing, a science fiction action/thriller about a professor who discovers terrifying predictions of the future, from director Alex Proyas, and The Hurt Locker, a thriller about a bomb squad engaged in an explosive game of cat and mouse amidst the chaos of war directed by Kathryn Bigelow.
