Michael Churchill of Pulp Nouveau Comix in Canandaigua, New York read the latest Steve Bennett column (see “Confessions of a Comic Book Guy--It Was Fun While It Lasted”) and doesn’t agree with his prediction of the death of independent comics:

Diamond's new policies don't have to spell the end of the independent "pamphlets."  It seems to me that this is a perfect opportunity for another distributor to enter the game.  Whether it's Haven stepping up, or a totally new company there's a distinct market that's no longer being served.  And where there's a market, there's a way to make money.

Until that happens, if you have any love for the small press, step up to the plate and order directly from the publishers.  I already do in part, and now I know I'll do more.

Stop with the doom and gloom and do something positive.
