Funimation has announced the licensing of the Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, a six-episode OVA directed by Shigeru Ueda (Elemental Gelade) and produced by Xebec.  Mnemosyne is a stylish, sexy, violent, adult saga written by Hiroshi Ohnogi (Noein) that can be best described as a hard-boiled science fiction saga with a fantasy twist.  Although it appeared on Japanese late night satellite/cable network AT-X in 2008, Mnemosyne is a throwback to the adventurous adult-oriented anime OVAs of the 1980s and 1990s.

The series’ protagonist Rin Asogi is a busty private investigator who just happens to be immortal.  With her assistant Mimi, who is also nearly impossible to kill, Rin is part of a duo of female crime-fighters that is bound to remind viewers of the heroines of the Dirty Pair manga and anime series.  Funimation plans to release the Mnemosyne anime series later in 2009.
