Moonstone has announced plans to publish a series of short story collections featuring radio, comic book, film and television heroes the Green Hornet and Kato.  The first collection of Green Hornet stories, which features illustrations by former Disney artist Ruben Procopio, is due out in late 2009.

Created in 1936 by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker, the same team responsible for The Lone Ranger, The Green Hornet has enjoyed a long multi-media career as a masked crime-fighter.  Columbia has a new Green Hornet film starring Seth Rogen as newspaper publisher-turned-vigilante Britt Reid that is slated for release in 2010 (see “Eternal Sunshine of the Hornet’s Mind”), so Moonstone’s short story collections should be well-timed to take advantage of the “buzz” created by the new Green Hornet movie.
