A quintet of hot young actors has joined the cast of The Cabin in the Woods, a horror film penned by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard that is set to debut on February 5th 2010. Anna Hutchison (Underbelly), Kristen Connelly (Revolutionary Road), Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek), Fran Kranz (The Village), and Jesse Williams (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) join a cast headed by Oscar-nominated actor Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) and Bradley Whitford (The West Wing).
Whedon is keeping the plotline of The Cabin in the Woods under wraps, but judging from the talent he assembled, this will be far from an ordinary teenage slasher film. Drew Goddard, who got his start in TV working with Whedon on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is making his directorial debut on Cabin (see “MGM Grabs Whedon’s Woods”).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, shooting has already begun on The Cabin in the Woods, which was originally slated to for a pre-Halloween debut on October 23rd, but which was moved to its current pre-Valentine’s Day opening to avoid competition with the latest installment of the apparently interminable Saw franchise.
