According to IGN Filmforce, Twentieth Century Fox has given the green light for a new film that pits two of its most successful science fiction properties, Aliens and Predator, against each other.  The pairing of these two lethal species was first successfully depicted comics from Dark Horse.  Although that series is long over, it will no doubt be revived when the film version of the titanic conflict finally reaches the screen.  Meanwhile Palisades Marketing is offering resin statues of both Predator and an Alien, which can be posed together to simulate conflict (see 'Palisades' Maturing Line Has Retro Tint').

The Ain't It Cool Website is reporting that Paul Anderson, who directed Soldier, Event Horizon and Resident Evil has been tabbed as Fox's number one choice to direct Aliens vs. Predator.  The success of Spider-Man has undoubtedly had an effect on Fox providing the go-ahead for Aliens vs. Predator.  Pop culture retailers can only hope that  the A.v.P. movie does get made, and that it turns out better than Anderson's previous efforts.
