Dynamite Entertainment has announced that it will ship the introductory Buck Rogers #0 issue, which has a cover price of just 25 cents, to comic shops so that it will be available on Free Comic Book Day on May 2nd.  At the 25-cent price point, the #0 issue of this new comic book series based on the well-known Buck Rogers property should prove to be of interest to “civilians” visiting comic shops on Free Comic Book Day.  The #0 issue features a cover by John Cassaday and interior art by Carlos Rafael.  Buck Rogers #1 will feature another cover by Cassaday and a variant from fan favorite painter Alex Ross.

The Buck Rogers property, which has a long history as a comic strip, a radio show, and TV series, is undergoing something of a renaissance.  In addition to Dynamite’s new Buck Rogers comic book series, Frank Miller has signed on to direct a Buck Rogers movie (see “Miller on Buck Rogers Movie”), and Hermes Press has released the first volume in a sumptuous reprinting of the original Buck Rogers comic strip series (see “Buck Rogers Movie Rights”).
