Variety reported that Dreamworks has purchased a screenplay by comic book scribe Grant Morrison.  Morrison, who wrote Batman: Arkham Asylum as well as some of the best Doom Patrol and JLA stories ever for DC, is currently writing the highly popular New X-Men title for Marvel.  Director Guillermo del Toro, who was responsible for Blade 2 and is currently working on an adaptation of Mike Mignola's Hellboy, is slated to direct the Morrison screenplay, which is entitled Sleepless Knights.  Don Murphy, described by Variety as a 'graphic novel maven,' produced last year's From Hell and is currently working on The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, will produce Sleepless Knights for Dreamworks.

Variety described Morrison's story as a 'family adventure' about a time machine experiment that backfires leaving the world permanently stuck (a la Groundhog Day) on Halloween night.  Ghosts and goblins range about unfettered until a young boy is recruited into 'an elite ghostbusting squadron called the Sleepless Knights.' Given the commitments of Del Toro and Murphy, production of Sleepless Knights appears to be 1-2 years away.
