ADV Films has acquired the rights to four anime previously distributed in the U.S. by Central Park Media (see “Central Park Media Files Chapter 7”), and one from Geneon.  The four former CPM titles, all shipping in July, are series Now and Then, Here and There and World of Narue; and OAVs Grave of the Fireflies (CPM packaging depicted here) and MD Geist.  The series will be released as season sets.

ADV’s Chris Oarr described the company’s acquisitions.  “These titles are a key component of ADV’s line-up heading into the second half of 2009,” he said.  “They take our catalogue in some interesting, diverse directions, and we’re really gratified at the fan response to this news, which has been completely positive.  Each, in its own way, is a key title and a milestone for anime in America, and part of anime’s growth here.”

ADV also announced that Sentai Filmworks will release Appleseed, distributed in the U.S. by ADV, on June 30th.  Appleseed was first released in the U.S. by Geneon in 2005, and this will be the first time it has been available for several years.
