Star Trek did $7 million in U.S. box office revenues on Thursday night, and another $24 million on Friday to bring its total to $31 million for the two days.  Estimates for the weekend seem to be falling around $70 million, although positive reviews might indicate that it will finish the weekend strong. 

This was the biggest opening day ever for director J.J. Abrams and for a Star Trek movie.
