Jim Brown of Midwest Comics and Collectibles in Quincy, Illinois feels that the impact of the delayed shipping on Dark Knight Strikes Again #3 (see 'DKSA #3 To Street July 31') is not confined to that issue; it also affects sales on the first two issues of the mini-series:

If DC wants to take real responsibility and help out retailers who had confidence that DC would make sure Dark Knight 2 came out on time, why don't they make issues one and two returnable? Or at least a percentage?

I have several customers who bought issues one and two and now simply don't want issue three because it's so late and they just don't care anymore. We also have about 16 customers who are waiting for all three issues to be in before they purchase them all. But about nine or ten or those customers now just don't want the comics at all. Whether they all refuse to pick up all three issues remains to be seen, but theoretically I'm going to be stuck with at least 30 copies of the three issues that I more than likely will not be able to sell.

I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only retailer who is in this situation. We all expected DC Comics to make sure Frank Miller was a professional and get the books out on time. I think we can all understand if there was some serious personal issues that made issue three late, but if it's a matter of Miller saying 'I'm Frank Miller and I can do whatever I want and get things done whenever I want', then that's a whole different kettle of fish.
