The new World of Warcraft TCG release, out this week from Upper Deck, introduces a new game play format from the MMO’s Arena gameplay.  Arena Grand Melee cards are used in a shared stack, along with players’ regular WoW TCG decks.  When special cards are flipped, Arena-style play is triggered.  For example, a “For the Fallen!” card triggers players acting out their weapon strikes to draw additional cards; a “Steamwheedle Casino” card triggers a blackjack game using WoW TCG cards.

Two versions are included in the release, Horde and Alliance sets, each featuring different hero cards and unique Grand Melee cards, as well as a unique mini-pet card.  Each set includes 19 tournament game cards, 60 Grand Melee cards, and one mini-pet card.  The sets include ability cards for all nine classes featuring new “preparation” abilities that can be played for free.
