Noah Broessel of Pop Culture Paradise in Tempe, Arizona comments on Walmart's reported plan to cut the space dedicated to toys (see "Walmart Cutting Toy Space"):

After reading the following on ICv2, I have a comment to make: "Walmart is cutting its toy space by more than half in a new initiative to re-make its stores, according to TD Monthly.  The new initiative, called "fast, friendly, clean," will widen store aisles, cut aisle and end caps."

First off, I laughed because for the most part Walmart is: 1) Slow  2) Not that friendly compared to Target (depends on your store, of course) and  3) Not clean.  So I guess they finally realize their main faults.

Try shopping at a Walmart Supercenter after 10pm and manuevering around stockers' pallets and all the "weird" customers (well as a comic store owner that's a bad point).  Nine out of 10 times my shopping experience at Target far exceeds Walmart and I believe Target is better for the community.  The crazy clearance deals I routinely find make up for Walmart's regular prices being a few pennies higher.

Also, it's really, really good for specialty retailers as they're more likely to keep the baby toys and Dora Explorer figures compared to the Mattel DC Universe figures, the G.I. Joe figures, etc.

This is truly a good sign for us!
