According to the MTV Splash Page, Synecdoche, New York producer Anthony Bregman has optioned Alex Robinson’s ingenious time-traveling graphic novel, Too Cool To Be Forgotten, which is published by Top Shelf Productions. Another Top Shelf graphic novel, The Surrogates is coming to the big screen on September 25th in an amply-budgeted adaptation from Disney’s Touchstone Pictures that stars Bruce Willis.
Bregman, who, in addition to Synecdoche, New York, has produced such high-forehead fare as The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Savages, would appear to be a perfect choice to shepherd Robinson’s time-traveling-with-a-twist saga to the screen. The protagonist of Too Cool is a 40-year old man, who, after undergoing hypnosis is transported back into the body of his 15-year-old self and forced to undergo the trials and tribulations of high school once again, while plagued with serious doubts as to whether he can, or should, do anything differently without changing the outcome of the life he hopes to return to in his adulthood.
