According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate and Nu Image/Millenium have chosen the actor to play Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian in a remake of the film that vaulted Arnold Schwarzenegger to fame in 1982.  Their “highly original” choice is Roland Kickinger, a 41-year-old bodybuilder-turned actor from—you guessed it—Austria.  Not only did Kickinger have a role as a T-800 Terminator in the current Terminator Salvation, he actually played the Conan-era Schwarzenegger in an A&E biopic See Arnold Run.

Filming of the new Conan the Barbarian film is set to begin this fall in Bulgaria with Marcus Nispel, who helmed New Line’s Friday the 13th remake, directing.  As the The Reporter put it, there is “no word on whether Arnold will make a cameo—or on whether Kickinger will run for governor.”
