Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) has signed on to develop and direct a live action movie based on the Shrapnel comic book series published by Radical Comics.  The science fiction comic is based on a video game from Zombie Studios and was written by Zombie’s Mark Long, Nick Sagan (Carl’s son), and M. Zachary Sherman.  Shrapnel features a gorgeous heroine and mecha designs by the great Syd Mead.

The Shrapnel comic book was introduced by Radical at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con.  The first Shrapnel graphic novel collection, Shrapnel: Aristeia Rising ($24.95) is due out in September.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wiseman is considering filming Shrapnel in 3-D.  Wiseman is also attached to direct an adaptation of the Gears of War video game.
