Crafty Games LLC will release FantasyCraft, a source book for running a fantasy RPG using the Spycraft rules engine, under Mongoose Games’ Flaming Cobra imprint. Previously announced as a softcover, FantasyCraft will now be a 288-page black-and-white hardcover retailing for $49.95 and releasing in August or September.

FantasyCraft includes a wide variety of racial options for creating characters, from the typical fantasy staples, such as elves and dwarves, all the way up to ogres, drakes, and “unborn.” Players can also choose from over 20 classes, dozens of spells, and mountains of adventuring gear, weapons, and equipment.

The book includes four campaign settings, with two more to be released via PDF, allowing players to get into the action immediately. GMs can customize the settings for bleak, gritty, or high-action campaigns. Also, rules for scalable battles are included, for anything from simple skirmishes to massive combats between clashing armies. Finally, the creatures and concepts in FantasyCraft can be adapted to any Crafty setting, providing some unusual obstacles to a group of unwitting spies.
