WizKids, the folks who invented the Collectible Miniatures Game (CMG), and who dominated the Games section of our most recent Top Ten Cool list (see 'CMGs Rule Games in May') with their Marvel HeroClix CMG, have collaborated with Idea & Design Works (IDW) to create a five-issue comic mini-series based on the Mage Knight universe. The first issue of Mage Knight: Stolen Destiny, which carries a cover price of $3.50, will be in stores in October and will contain a coupon that can be redeemed for an exclusive Mage Knight figure based on a character from the comic series.
Todd Dezago (Tellos) is writing the series and David Cabrera will do the pencils. The first issue features covers by fan favorite J. Scott Campbell and Alex Garner. IDW will act as the actual publisher of the comic, which should feed off the continuing interest in the Mage Knight CMG as well as off the current upsurge of interest in the fantasy genre, which is evidenced by the strong showing of the Lord of the Rings movie and the continuing success of the fantasy-oriented Crossgen line of comics.
