Sony has hired James Vanderbilt to write the fifth and sixth Spider-Man movies, according to Variety. Vanderbilt did a first draft of Spider-Man 4, which is currently on its second rewrite (see “Gary Ross to Rewrite Spider-Man 4”), and is planned for release in May 2011.
Sony is hiring Vanderbilt, who wrote The Losers (see “Sylvain White to Helm ‘The Losers’”) to write two interconnected scripts for 5 and 6 this early because they want to get the Spider-Man films out more frequently, according to the report.
