Viz Media is releasing Naruto Shippuden the Movie on DVD on November 10th. The film is the fourth Naruto movie, and the first to feature the older teenage Naruto. Since it deals with darker, edgier material, the DVD is rated “Teen +” for older teens (16 and up). It will have an MSRP of $24.92.
In Naruto Shippuden the Movie the teenage ninja has to protect Shon, a priestess who is the only person with the power to seal away a monster bent on the destruction of the world. The problem is Shon also has the power to predict someone’s fate, and she is forecasting that Naruto will soon die. Rather than run away from his problem (and perhaps his destiny), Naruto embraces his mission and his fate.
Later this month Viz is releasing the first DVD of the Naruto Shippuden TV anime (see “First Shippuden DVD in September”). In October the Shippuden TV anime will begin its run on the Disney XD cable channel (see “Disney XD Gets Naruto Shippuden”). Naruto remains the top manga and anime property in the North American market and fans of the ninja hero should enjoy the first Shippuden anime feature with its high production values. Like the Naruto Shippuden TV anime DVDs, the Naruto Shippuden the Movie DVD will feature both and English dub track and the original Japanese soundtrack (with English subtitles).
