Madchen Amick (Twin Peaks) has joined the cast of the manhwa-based post apocalyptic thriller Priest.  In a plot somewhat reminiscent of John Ford’s The Searchers with a vampire twist, the film’s eponymous hero (played by Paul Bettany) sets off on a journey to rescue his kidnapped niece.  According to Variety Amick will portray the mother of the kidnapped girl.  The film is based on the 16-volume series created by Hyung Min-woo and published by Tokyopop.

Priest director Scott Stewart also announced (via Twitter) that veteran actors Christopher Plummer (The Sound of Music, The Man Who Would Be King) and Brad Dourif (Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) have been added to the cast of the film, which is currently in production.  Plummer and Dourif join a solid cast that, in addition to Bettany, includes Maggie Q, Karl Urban, and Cam Gigandet.  The quality of the Priest cast demonstrates once again that comic book-based movies are currently attracting some of the best talent in Hollywood.
