Work has begun on a sequel to Columbia’s 2007 Ghost Rider film, according to Variety.  David Goyer, who wrote a script years ago, is in negotiations to direct, with Nicolas Cage again expected to star.

Former Marvel Studios head Avi Arad is attached to produce, along with Michael De Luca and Steven Paul, with Gary Foster executive producer.  Arad is associated with a number of comics-related films, including Ghost in the Shell (see “Ghost in the Shell Live Action Movie”), Maximum Ride (comics-related because of the highly successful manga adaptation by Yen Press, see “Twilight Helmer Talking Maximum Ride”), and Popeye.
