For readers who want to see how this story is being covered locally, here's the link to a November 8th story on the library workers (neither is actually a librarian) in the Lexington Herald Leader.  The comments posted to the story are quite illuminating.  It turns out that Kentuckians (at least those online who read the newspaper) don't like censorship any more than the rest of us.
