Although no official announcement has been made concerning the North American debut of Universal’s Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, Edgar Wright’s film based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley will open in the U.K. on August 27th, 2010 and in France on August 18th.  While its unclear exactly when the film will be opening in the U.S., it appears certain that it will open here next August, most likely on either August 20th or August 27th.  The date for the U.K. debut was confirmed by The Playlist.

News that the film, which stars Michael Cera, was in production has already spurred sales of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels, making them the bestselling graphic novels in the “Fiction & Reality” category in the most recent ICv2 Insider’s Guide.  Retailers can expect interest in Scott Pilgrim graphic novels to increase as the date for the release of the film adaptation nears.
