Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that it is making the arcade-style Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Duel Terminals available only to official YGO Tournament Stores here in the U.S.  The Duel Terminals are arcade-style video game machines that play and teach the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, and dispense cards to players.  Retailers can benefit through increased foot traffic and interest in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG property generated by the Duel Terminals.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Duel Terminals can be played at two levels of difficulty, or players can just get their card and skip playing the game.  The cards dispensed by the machine are specially treated so the machine can scan the card for use in the arcade game.  Duel Terminal cards can also function as standard YGO TCG cards.  The Duel Terminal cards are usable right away in the arcade game, and they will also become tournament legal for official YGO TCG events at a future date after the cards have been widely distributed in non-Duel Terminal products.  The recently released Hidden Arsenal booster set contained cards previously released in Japan via the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Duel Terminals (see “Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Hidden Arsenal”).
