American Idol winner Kris Allen revealed himself as a Settlers of Catan fan in an interview with Jim Cantiello of MTV.  When the interview turned to holiday games and Cantiello suggested Settlers, Allen quickly responded with “Dude, so sick—love that game.”  Bracketed in the video by warnings of things getting “dorky,” the segment turned into a love song to Settlers, with a discussion of expansion play and a promise to convene a “Catan-athon.” 

Settlers is the game du jour in hip circles lately, with its prominence in tech circles (see “Settlers Goes Viral”) now being echoed in pop culture.
