Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two Ghostbusters films, has revealed that he will also direct the third in an interview with MTV.  And confirming what Harold Ramis revealed a few weeks back (see “Ghostbusters 3 Progressing”), the film is slated for a 2011 release.

The first script by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky has been completed, and rewrites are underway.  Key original cast members are on board, with a new generation also planned.

The property is ready for a new movie.  The videogame sold over a million units in a little over a month after release (see “Ghostbusters Sells a Million”), and costumes turned up at Comic-Con last year (see “Comic-Con—Late Friday to Early Saturday”).
