Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, whose Tornante Company acquired Topps with Madison Dearborn Partners in 2007, has hired Ryan O’Hara as the new CEO. O’Hara comes to Topps from TV Guide, where he had worked for eight years and had been president since 2005. Earlier experience included BSkyB and Fox Sports Net, as well as a stint at Nestle, which should help him with Topps’ confection business.
O’Hara replaces Scott Silverstein, who will remain on the board of directors. Silverstein was a third generation Shorin (Arthur Shorin’s son-in-law), the scion of the family that founded the venerable company.
