We spotted the GAMA poster of the Origins Award winners at GenCon last weekend and realized we hadn't reported them since they were announced at the Origins show last month, so we're listing them here. The Origin Awards are a 28-year tradition sponsored by the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design. Nominees are selected by the Academy and then voted on by the gaming public and the Academy. The Origins Awards are the most comprehensive set of gaming awards, and in many ways the most prestigious. The Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design is a subcommittee of GAMA (the Game Manufacturers Association).
As was the case last year, GAMA has produced a poster featuring all the winners of this year's Origins Awards. The poster is perfect for in-store display and is being distributed to every retailer, distributor and manufacturer on GAMA's mailing list. Retailers who are not members can join GAMA for a small fee (see http://www.gama.org ) and receive the poster along with other benefits. Of course, a display of the winning games is a good way to draw attention to high quality products with good odds of creating satisfied customers.
The Awards
The awards were well dispersed this year, with only Wizards of the Coast winning three (for Chainmail, Forgotten Realms, and Clan War 7th Scroll: The Lion), and five companies winning two each--Dork Storm, WizKids, Hasbro, Decipher, and Chaosium.
