WizKids, the creators of the popular Mage Knight miniature game (see 'December Product of the Month') has announced the April release of a 'Beta' series of figures that will usher in several changes to the white-hot collectable miniatures game.  In the Beta series each figure will come in a color-coded plastic shell, which will indicate the figure's level of rarity.  The exterior packaging of both starters and boosters will also be improved.  The Beta Booster packs will have eight languages on the box.

 

On the upper right-hand corner of the Beta boxes, 'Series I' will be replaced by 'Rebellion Series.'  On the figures themselves the '#' symbol next to the figure's collector's number will be replaced by a cracked globe symbol, but there will be no difference in game play. The Beta series starters and boosters will ship in April.
