John Coviello of Little Shop of Magic in Las Vegas, Nevada read the recent article on Hastings Entertainment expanding into comic books (see "Hastings Entertainment Adds Comics") and had this to say:
Not to diminish the latest news concerning Hastings but I would like to point out that the chain has carried comics for years! Back in 1993, I worked for them as a manager in one of their Arizona stores and during that time I was actually in charge of the location's comic book and game ordering and I had pretty much free reign as to what I could stock.
I do remember that I personally placed orders with Diamond and I recall shipments coming in from other sources over which I had little control (I believe that their primary business came from servicing traditional bookstores and periodicals chains). I also remember having returnability privileges with some of these also.
What I'm confused about is if the company has decided to expand their selections or if they are coming back into the comic scene after, perhaps, having abandoned it. Does anyone have any insight the matter?
