The five Scott Pilgrim volumes from Oni Press grew into a major force on the BookScan charts in June, holding five of the top 11 slots. The first volume was the #3 graphic novel in bookstores for the month. The sixth volume is due for release this month, and the movie opens August 13th. The film, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, appears to be another example of films that drive graphic novel sales to a great degree; it’s a big win for Oni, which has been nurturing this property since the release of the first volume in 2004.
The latest volume of Naruto, Vol. 48, took its customary spot at #1, with Vampire Knight Vol. 10 right behind it, and Bleach Vol. 31 at #4. Manga held 12 of the top 20 spots, with six Viz titles (down a bit from its normal top 20 places), three from Yen Press, and one each from Dark Horse,
The Kick-Ass Hardcover was the sole Marvel title in the top 20, and DC Comics had two, one the perennially scoring Watchmen and Final Crisis the other.
