We told you earlier about some of the publicity surrounding NBM's To Afghanistan and Back by Ted Rall (see 'Ted Rall in Time'); now another NBM graphic novel is getting mainstream publicity, Stephen Heuet's adaptation of Marcel Proust's Remembrance of Things Past.  Earlier this summer Remembrance... made Newsweek and metro dailies, including the San Francisco Chronicle, and most recently it's been turning up on lists of books to watch from the book trade.  One such list was Booksense 76, a bi-monthly list of books to watch from the American Booksellers Association, representing titles recommended by independent booksellers.  Remembrance... appeared in the paperback fiction section of the September/October list.  The list is reported by national media as well as serving as a merchandising tool for booksellers.  Remembrance... also turned up on Calvin Reid's short list of graphic novels to stock for booksellers in PW Daily.

While NBM's self-distribution to the book trade may give it a somewhat lower profile than graphic novel publishers distributed by CDS, PGW, or Diamond, its 150-title line is of growing importance both in  pop culture and book stores.
