Following on the heels of the Gen Con launch of the new Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer deckbuilding game, new publisher Gary Games has announced plans for an organized play program that will be established over the coming year.
The program is designed to include both in-store and national events including tournaments and gatherings. In-store events will be supported by special promo cards that can only be gained by players who attend in-store Ascension events on game day.
Larger-scale national “Godslayer Tournaments” are also planned. The winners of these tournaments will have influence on the game’s overall storyline, and have an opportunity to become the Godslayer in a future expansion.
Gary Games intends these organized play events to be mostly casual in nature. The company hopes to encourage player participation and to expand the Ascension playing community.
Information about the organized play program will be posted to Gary Games’ website, including a schedule of all events. No dates have been set, but the program is expected to be up and running before the end of the year.
Ascension is a non-collectible deckbuilding game that debuted at Gen Con last week (see “‘Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer’” for more details).
