Batman helmer Christopher Nolan, who is functioning as a producer/godfather for Warner Bros.’ long gestating Superman film, has begun interviewing a short list of potential directors for the next Man of Steel movie.  Warner Bros. needs to get the project up and running and in theaters by 2012, since rights to a Superman movie become more problematic if the studio fails to begin production on a Superman film by 2011 (see “DC, Warners ‘Win’ Superman Case”). 

According to Deadline, Nolan’s list of potential Superman helmers includes Zack Snyder (Watchmen), Matt Reeves (Let Me In), Tony Scott (Unstoppable), Jonathan Leibesman (Battle: Los Angeles), and Duncan Jones (Source Code).
