Gary Ross will be the director for the feature film adaptation of The Hunger Games, according to Variety.  Ross is the director of Seabiscuit and Pleasantville.  

Hunger Games is a trilogy of Scholastic young adult novels by Suzanne Collins about a world in which each of twelve districts in a post-apocalyptic North America send a boy and a girl to fight to the death in a televised competition.  The third volume, Mockingjay, published in August, had an initial print run of 1.2 million.

WizKids has produced a board game based on the novels (see "WizKids' 'Hunger Games'").
