ComiXology is launching a do-it-yourself authoring tool that will allow creators and smaller publishers to create their own digital comics.  Guided View Authoring Tools, which prepare comics for viewing in either full page or panel-by-panel views using ComiXology’s apps, is currently in alpha-testing with Tokyopop, Devil’s Due Publishing, Arcana Studio, and Scott Admunson.  Once the alpha phase is complete, more publishers and creators will be added in the beta phase before it’s opened to all comers. 

ComiXology CEO David Steinberger explained the benefits of the program.  “The tools will give publishers and creators an equal opportunity for visibility, while creating more diverse content for our community to enjoy week after week,” he said.
