While the majority of the “ 2010 Top Ten Toys for Boys” list consists of perennial holdovers like video games, LEGOs, Hot Wheels, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360, there were some newcomers as well including movie-related licensed toys from Disney’s Toy Story and Marvel’s Iron Man.  Other perennials including Mattel’s Hot Wheels, Hasbro’s Transformers, and toddler-friendly Fisher-Price toys also made the list.  In spite of the popularity of the two previous Toy Story movies, this marks the first time that Toy Story made the list.

Certainly it appears that the second Iron Man movie, even though its box office performance was not quite as strong as the first film, has proved to be even more successful in spurring sales of Iron Man toys, at least according to Hasbro (see “Magic Helps Hasbro Stem Losses”).

According to the National Retailer Federation survey, which was conducted by BIGresearch from November 3-9th and involved polling 8,778 consumers, 41.9% of consumers plan to buy toys for the holiday season.
