Drawn & Quarterly has acquired the world rights to Daniel Clowes’ The Death-Ray and will release it as a hardcover graphic novel in Fall 2011.  In Clowes strange, dark take on the tropes of the superhero genre, teen-age outcast Andy discovers something that finally allows him to express all his pent up aggression, the Death-Ray.

The storyline was originally introduced in Fantagraphics’ Eightball #23.

A movie version is being developed by Jack Black’s Electric Dynamite Productions (see “Clowes Adapting ‘Death-Ray’”) with noted music video director Chris Milk attached to direct.
