Director Joss Whedon will begin principal photography on The Avengers in New Mexico in April and continue through September, according to Variety.  Some shooting will also take place in New York and Michigan, according to the report. 

The movie (with its all star cast, see “Movie Avengers Assembled”) will open May 4, 2012.
