Marvel Studios has held talks with writer/director Shane Black about Iron Man 3. Black worked with Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. in the highly underrated neo-noir action comedy Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in 2005. Black made a big splash in Tinseltown in the 1990s writing big action movies like Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout. If Black did get the Iron Man 3 gig, he would most likely be heavily involved in the writing of the movie, which is set for release on May 3rd, 2013.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision, which broke the story that Marvel had been conferring with Black, Black’s involvement in Iron Man 3 is “far from a sure thing,” since “other filmmakers are being looked at.” Still Iron Man fans who are familiar with Black’s work, can only salivate at the prospect that he would be taking over from Jon Favreau.
