Konami Digital Entertainment is releasing the Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time Movie Pack (MSRP $4.99) on February 22nd in conjunction with the North American premiere of the 3D anime feature film in 250 stereoscopically-equipped theaters on February 26th. The film, which targets kids from 6-14 audience, will be shown on the weekend of February 26th and 27th and then again the following weekend on March 5th and 6th.
The 49-minute Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D cartoon (see “Yu-Gi-Oh! 3-D Movie Release Set”) features a sinister Duelist, who summons such ferocious monsters that it takes the heroes of all three YGO anime series, Yugi, Jaden, and Yusei, to stop him. Each YGO 3D: Bonds Beyond Time Movie Pack will contain five random Secret Rare cards. The 9 different Movie Pack cards follow the theme of the movie and include the warped and twisted “Malefic” monsters used by the movie’s time-traveling villain.
The Movie Packs will provide the only opportunity for Duelists to add the “Malefic Paradox Dragon” to their decks. This potent card can turn an opponent’s Synchro Monster against them. The other 8 new cards in the release include Malefic versions of classic monsters including, “Blue–Eyes White Dragon” and “Cyber End Dragon.”
The Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D movie should benefit from promotional efforts by movie distributor Cinedigm Digital Cinema (online and mobile), as well as from Konami’s 10-city YGO mall events (see “Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG 10-City Mall Tour”). Yu-Gi-Oh! manga publisher Viz Media is providing a free mini-YGO comic that will be given to everyone who attends showings of the YGO 3D movie. For its part 4Kids Entertainment is providing a free YGO movie card to patrons and organizing showings to benefit the “Make a Wish” Foundation.
