The Topps Company and Abrams have formed a strategic alliance through which Abrams will exclusively publish books based on Topps sports and popular culture brands.  Under the agreement, which covers six imprints, Abrams will publish fiction and non-fiction sports and entertainment books and calendars. The deal also covers digital rights.

Abrams ComicArts, Abrams Image, Abrams Books for Young Readers, Amulet Books, and Stewart, Tabori & Chang will all produce new releases under the plan. Among the projects is a fiction series for 7-10 boys, which is also planned as potential media content.

Ira Friedman, Topps VP of Global Licensing, and Charles Kochman, Editorial Director at Abrams, negotiated the deal.

The first collaboration between the companies was around Wacky Packages, beginning in 2008. The project eventually involved two hardcovers and a calendar.
