Days of Wonder has announced the July release (in North America) of Small World Underground (MSRP $50), a new stand-alone game designed by Phillipe Keyaerts and set beneath the surface of his fun, light-hearted Small World universe of epic conquests and fallen empires. Small World Underground is a follow-up to Keyaerts’ award-winning Small World board game, which has sold over 100,000 units. Small World is a fantasy civilization game where players vie for the conquest and control of a world that is simply too small to accommodate them all. Small World Underground can be played on its own or combined with other Small World game elements, and is recommended for players who are already familiar with Small World.
Small World Underground, which is designed for 2-5 players (ages 8 and up), follows the rise and fall of whimsical new Races and Powers that lie beneath the surface of the original Small World. It also introduces Monster-occupied regions that protect Relics and Place of great power. The design of Small World Underground emphasizes the games playful fantasy theme with rich detailed illustrations.
The deluxe Small World Underground game box includes two double-sided game boards (one for each player configuration), 15 new Fantasy races each with matching banners and tokens, 21 new Special Power Badges, 9 Popular Places and 6 Righteous Relics, 9 Black Mountains and 1 Volcano, a variety of Armors, Hammers, and Vengeance markers, a Bag-O’-Many-Things, 106 Victory Coins, and a rules booklet. Small World Underground will be released in Europe in June.
