Oscar winner Jeff Bridges is poised to join Ryan Reynolds in the action-packed “corpse comedy” R.I.P.D., which is based on a Dark Horse comic book series written by Peter Lenkov.  Bridges, who adds considerable class to the proceedings, replaces the hot comic actor Zack Galifianakis, who pulled out of the project due to scheduling problems.

According to Deadline, Robert Schwentke, who directed the highly successful comic book-based action comedy Red, is still slated to direct R.I.P.D. for Universal. The only current holdup in production would be Warner Bros.’ possible decision to plunge right in to a second Green Lantern film with Ryan Reynolds—a decision that won’t be made until the box office fate of the initial Green Lantern film is determined in June.
