Spin Master, which is launching its Redakai lenticular trading card game in the hobby channel on Saturday, is kicking off its community formation by offering the first 5,000 people to register on the game Website a free hobby exclusive Gold Pack. Each Redakai Gold Pack includes one 3D Monster card, three animated Attack cards, one Rare or Super-Rare card, and one Gold Pack Rare card from a 20-card hobby-only subset of foil-printed cards (see “Redakai Rarity Scheme”). The first 5,000 registrants will also receive a Redakai Original badge on their community profile.
Beyond community formation, the goal is to expand the universe of people that see the game’s impressive lenticular technology. “Seeing is believing when it comes to RedaKai, so we want to get Redakai cards in as many hands as possible,” Redakai Community Manager Toby Wachter said.
Redakai, the next big thing from Bakugan maker Spin Master, is being offered to the hobby first as a way to build the network of players the game will need to be successful (see “Hobby Gets First Crack at the Next Big Thing”). It’s being supported by organized play (see “Redakai OP Kicks Off in June”); a TV show that will air on the Cartoon Network (see “Redakai: Conquer the Kairu”); and TV and other advertising. Mass market release of the game (and an associated toy line with some cool technology of its own) will follow.
