The first full trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which debuts on August 5th, puts on full display the excellent work of Andy Serkis (aka Gollum) and WETA Digital (Avatar).  Serkis' intelligent ape Caesar may well be the high point of motion-capture animation so far.  Judging by this trailer he gives a nuanced and totally chilling performance. 

Perhaps Marvel's X-Men isn't the only franchise that gets resusitated in a big way this summer.
